Commercial Fishing, Crabbing and Processing Injuries
Has a Fishing, Crabbing or Processing Injury Changed Your Life?
Living on a boat and making your living as a seaman can be tough. You’ve always depended on your body to hold up so you can do your job. But now that you’ve been injured, how will you pay your bills? To learn what you can do, you need to discuss your situation with a knowledgeable Washington maritime lawyer.
At Seattle Maritime Attorneys, we help the victims of commercial fishing accidents seek the full compensation they are entitled to receive.
One of us worked as seaman for 12 years, the other as a fisherman and boat builder, and together we have more than 50 years of combined experience practicing maritime and admiralty law in the Pacific Northwest.
We are experienced advocates for seamen and we want you to feel welcome at our firm. For a free initial consultation with a compassionate maritime injury attorney, call our Seattle office at 206.729.5252, our Bellevue office at 425.454.3800, or visit our contact page today.
What Are You Entitled To Receive?
As a seaman injured in a commercial fishing accident, you are entitled to the following:
- Maintenance: This consists of a daily living stipend that substitutes for the free room and meals you would have received on board if you were not injured.
- Cure: The vessel owner must pay your medical bills until you achieve maximum recovery, or you have improved as much as possible. You are not required to see the company doctor.
- Unearned wages: This is a part of maintenance and cure. It consists of the wages you would have earned during your contract when you are unable to work due to your injuries.
If your injury was caused by an unsafe condition aboard the boat, in addition to unearned wages, maintenance and cure, you may also be able to secure benefits for pain and suffering and future lost wages.
Regardless of how you were hurt, you can count on us to fight aggressively for the compensation you deserve. We handle all types of illness and accident cases, including back injuries, fish allergies, carpal tunnel syndrome and much more, up to and including amputation and death.
